You found this message in your mailbox on a random Tuesday.

You realise, oh man, it is that time of the year. You wonder if you can make it out alive...

It reads,

'You are stuck in Strath Union, and they are running something called ‘Election Season’. It only started a few days ago, but you already want a way out.

You are doing all you can to try to find the way out.

Can you make it out on time before all the monstrous candidates find you and get a vote out of you?'

So now, will you take on the challenge or let the hungry and desperate devour you?

Your choice...

Please allow me to introduce myself to YU.

I was an exchange student in the US at 15, living with a host family and making friends with people outside my ethnicity for the first time. I experienced the beauty of diversity, and it showed me why inclusion is important.

My passion for race equity gives me the confidence to facilitate decolonial conversations and a Black History Month podcast.

I also love engaging and supporting our cultural and interfaith groups.

I have always valued justice, but I only knew I had an activist in me later in life. In 2016, I campaigned with my friends for marriage equality in Taiwan (it was finally legalised in 2019!)

As part of LGBT+ History Month in February, I focused on trans and non-binary campaigns, but I know there is still so much I can achieve for you.

During my undergrad placement, I worked to support students who stammer. I have personal experience with disabilities, but I cannot represent students with all types and levels of disabilities without you! I have dedicated myself to engaging and learning from people who have lived experience, including taking BSL classes, so I can do better to support you.

I am lucky to work at Strath Union, where women's rights and safety is a well-established remit with the effort of staff, passionate Reps and student-led societies, so I could focus more on policy and safeguarding ideas.

Voting opens 6th March - 9th March.

This Election Escape Room is a game I designed for you to experience something you probably will never see again in the election campaign of history.

Each day during the online campaign (23rd Feb - 6th Mar), I will release hints you could use to solve a series of puzzles. You will be 'locked' in a room and use the hints to help you escape each level of the 'room'. The puzzle will not require you to be in the Union. However, being in the space will give you an immersive experience and want to understand how the hints are associated with the physical space.

The 'door' (link) to the virtual puzzle will be open on the 6th of March. Once you escape, you will get a message I want to send you. You can either message me on social media or email me the hidden message so I know you successfully escaped!

I will announce the first person who completes the Room and the leaderboard when the voting closes on the 9th of March. Unfortunately, due to the campaign rule, I cannot reward you, but I guess you can say you are one witty person on your CV!

The first hints release will be on the Thu 23rd of Feb, so stay tuned!!
