Move Forward from the Past
Ensure the University continues researching its relationship with the slave trade history and takes appropriate action.
In January, I met with the University Secretary, Associate Principals, and Professor to discuss the research on exploring the relationship between the slave trade history and the University. It is meaningful and exciting news as this is a moment many students with Black heritage have been working towards and waiting for a long time.
I will lobby the University to continue the initiatives and take appropriate action according to the finding from the series of research. I will ensure the University consult the relevant student groups and race equity organisations, as well as conduct the study with high integrity and transparency.
Compassion is Strathclyde
Promote understanding of diversity by launching the @StrathFocus Campaign - featuring diverse student journeys.
StrathFocus is a campaign I will launch if I am re-elected. The campaign aims to showcase the diverse student body at Strathclyde. Anyone could be marginalised when experiencing different aspects of life circumstances. That is why empathising with each other's experiences is important to develop a truly inclusive community.
In this campaign, I want to use the platform to appreciate our community and embrace all individual differences at Strathclyde. I hope the campaign could be the opportunity to show that everyone belongs to the compassionate Strathclyde.
